MEET DANIELLE

Virtual Counseling and Support for Women

Hello! I am:
a nurse (but I can't stand throw up), a teacher (whose patience is quite thin), a housecleaner (who jumps from room to room and leaves things unfinished), a party planner (this stresses me out but I'm pretty good!), a mediator (non-stop), a chef (I make a mean bowl of cereal), a chauffeur (I hate driving)...and I'm willing to bet if you are reading this, you are probably all of these things too because...you are a mom.  WOW, we take on a lot of roles! We are all conquering motherhood in our own unique ways, and for some reason we expect ourselves to be really good at all of them...where does this pressure come from?  And more importantly, how do we break free from it?

Danielle

Aside from being a mom of two spirited and independent young kids (read that however you’d like), I am also:

  • a licensed professional counselor, licensed school counselor, national board certified counselor, and certified perinatal mental health specialist.

  • a consultant to local area hospitals and other professionals on best practices concerning maternal mental health

  • a survivor of postpartum depression and anxiety, as well as anxiety during pregnancy.

  • someone who was misdiagnosed for 20+ years as having generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, etc. when really, ADHD is my thing :) I'm also the wife of a fellow ADHD brain and the parent of 1 or 2 ADHD kiddos (time will tell!)

  • a believer in support, whatever that looks like for you (asking for help, seeking guidance or advice, reading a book, therapy).  For the first time in my own life, after working with THE ABSOLUTE BEST clinician (happy to give you her contact information) my brain finally has SPACE.

Family Matters

As a professional, what you see is what you get.  I'm actively present in our sessions and quite empathetic- sometimes you may see me tear up, smile, even laugh...I'm human!  I'm also not afraid to share things I have experienced or learned during my own journey if I feel they are relevant and supportive.  Don't worry- I will always ask your permission and will never make your time about me...in fact, I want to know all about what has and hasn't worked for you in the past to make sure we do more of the helpful techniques and less of the other stuff.  I truly believe you are the expert in your own life.  My role is to help point out some inconsistencies that you may not be able to see, and maybe point out a few different paths that are in front of you…it is never to tell you which one to take (although we can definitely explore them together!).

Clients have said “You are not what I expected” or “You’re not a typical therapist” and family and friends have said “Can you take off your work hat for a minute?”.  Well guess what?  I am one and the same.  I bring who I am to our sessions- the feelings, the humor, the honest feedback- the same way that I try to bring balance and neutrality to my personal life.  To know me in one area is to know me everywhere.

I truly love what I do.  The moment a client uncovers something about themselves, there is a look, a moment, the “aha” or “ooooooh” or “insert other word here”...those moments breathe life into me.  Those are my joy moments.  I can't wait to find yours!
